William Craig Decker
William Craig Decker, 49, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Sandy Hook on Tuesday, August 25.
He was predeceased by his father, Donald W. Decker, and is survived by his mother, Joan Decker; son, Lucas T. Decker; siblings, Sue Ann, Kathleen J., and David M. Decker; and his beloved, Jocelyn Biondo.
He was charismatic and confident, with multifaceted talents in mechanical repairs, home renovations, woodworking, sales, technology, and culinary adventure. But most of all he enjoyed spending time with his son, Lucas, and having long conversations with the people he loved. He had impeccable integrity and compassion for helping people. He will be most remembered for his commanding presence and luminous smile.
William “Bill” grew up in Millbrook, N.Y., and graduated from Syracuse University in 1998. He had a lucrative career at First Data, Ariba, GE, and more recently owned and operated Ahoy Marine Service at Lakeside Marina. He organized the Newtown Road Race for many years, raising thousands of dollars to help Newtown Youth and Family Services.
