Susan Horn Corey was born on April 5, 1952, in Greenwich. She passed away August 24, in Danbury, at the age of 68.

Sue grew up in Darien and graduated from Dairen High School in 1970. She received an associate degree in liberal arts from Branford Junior College in Haverhill, Mass., in 1972 and went on to study early childhood education at Wheelock College in Boston, Mass., graduating in 1974.

Sue spent a year as a nanny for a disabled boy in England. Upon returning, she was employed as an aide in the Darien Public Schools.

Sue worked at Pepperidge Farm for 15 years while continuing her studies in special education. She received her MS in special education from Fairfield University in 1992.

Sue worked for Norwalk Public Schools from 1991 to 2013 in grades K, 1, and 2. After retirement, Sue began working as a caregiver for the elderly.

She was an active member of the Newtown Lions Club and also volunteered at FAITH Food Pantry and with Newtown Families United.

Sue leaves behind her husband, Kevin, of 41 years; her sister, Jean Grimsley, of Gatesville, Texas (Bill); her nieces, Jennifer Sanderson, Meghan Girard, and Jennifer Teixeira; her nephews, Dakin Grimsley, Corey Grimsley, and Billy Corey; as well as her brother-in-law, Bob Corey (Meg Dennis).

She was predeceased by nephew Will Grimsley, brothers-in-law Bill and Terry Corey, and sister-in-law Cindy Corey.

Sue’s parents were John Dakin Horn and Edith Keeney Horn of Darien. Sue’s grandparents were Harry Milton Horn and Cornelia, as well as Agnes Elizabeth Keeney and Seir Arthur Diefendorf.
