Fredric H. Kauffman
Fredric H. Kauffman,76, of Lincoln, Neb., died July 27. He was born in St Paul, Minn., into the home of Harold W. and Esther (Smith) Kauffman, who survives her son at age 100.cityimpact.org.
His wife Ruth (Cornelius); children and spouses: Wendy and Ernesto Leon-Gambetta of Newtown, and their children Brandon, Stefan, Carson and Tessa; Douglas and Aggie Kauffman of Bedford, Mass., and their children Ethan and Zoey; and Grant Kauffman of McKinney, Texas, and his children Carlie, Nick and Chris, survive him.
In addition, Mr Kauffman has five stepdaughters and their spouses: Jennifer and Kevin Bauer, of Lockport, Ill.; Jane and Doug Roberts of Columbia, S.C.; Andrea Horner and Bill Atkinson of Lincoln; Amy and David Carnie of Roca, Neb.; and Jill Gee of Scottsdale, Ariz. He and Ruth have a total of 27 grandchildren. His sister Carole and her husband, Ed McVaney; brothers Tom and wife Mary Lynne, Marty and wife Ann, and Gary Kauffman; as well as many nieces and nephews also survive Mr Kauffman.
A graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and Nebraska College of Law (cum laude 1964), Mr Kauffman practiced law in Lincoln for more than 50 years. He was a partner in the Cline Williams law firm, where his work focused on medical and legal professional liability, and antitrust cases. He served as an arbitrator for complex business disputes.
Mr Kauffman was a member of Nebraska State Bar Association (president, 1994-95) and Lincoln Bar Association (president, 1976). In addition, he was a fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers (state chair, 1984), International Society of Barristers, and numerous committees. He also was a trial advocacy instructor at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Law.
His goal was to live a life worthy of the gospel. His service included the boards of Lincoln General Hospital, People's City Mission and Foundation, Foster Care Closet, and Teammates. He greatly enjoyed teaching Bible studies, including FCA groups, speaking to Christian groups, and DEXCOM, the ruling body for CMA churches. He loved actively participating in his church, Lincoln Berean.
A favorite Bible passage of Mr Kaufmann's was "Rejoice in the Lord always. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
A Celebration of Life service was scheduled for 11 am, Tuesday, August 2, at Lincoln Berean Church, 6400 South 70th Street, Chapel, North Entrance. There was a private burial preceding the service.
