DUI Rollover

Police report that motorist Therese Stanis, 26, of Bethel was involved in a one-vehicle rollover accident on Route 302, near its intersection with Boggs Hill Road, about 12:24 am August 30. Hook & Ladder firefighters responded to the incident.

Police said that after investigating the crash, they charged Stanis with driving under the influence and with a travel lane violation.

Following arrest processing, police released Stanis from custody on $100 bail for a September 15 court appearance.

Four MV Charges

Police said they received a report of a two-vehicle accident near 67 Church Hill Road about 3:53 pm August 28, so they went there to investigate.

Following their investigation, police said they charged one of the two motorists involved in that crash with four motor vehicle offenses.

Police said they charged Sarah Surles, 23, of New Milford with passing in a no-passing zone, improper use of a marker plate, driving an unregistered vehicle, and driving without automotive insurance.

After processing her charges, police released Surles on $100 bail for a September 11 court appearance.

Found Keys

Police are holding for safekeeping a set of keys that was found on August 27 on Jeremiah Road in Sandy Hook. The set contains one vehicle key and two house keys. The owner may claim the item by contacting Sergeant Darlene Froehlich at the police station at 3 Main Street, telephone 426-5841.

Church Hill Crash

Police report a two-vehicle accident about 12:25 pm August 28 on Church Hill Road near the Blue Colony Diner.

The accident involved motorist Carol Ann Wenzel, 66, of Scranton, Penn., who was driving a 2005 Mazda sedan, and motorist Francis J. Scapeccia, Jr, 54, of Danbury, who was driving a 2001 Jeep Cherokee SUV, police report.

There were no injuries. Wenzel received a written warning for failure to grant the right of way, police said.

 

Jeep Vs Toyota

About 6:21 pm September 1, a two-vehicle accident happened near Newtown Mobil at 62 Church Hill Road.

That collision involved motorist Sean O’Leary, 45, of 12 Charter Ridge Road, who was driving a 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV, and motorist Robert Cox, 41, of 136 Castle Hill Road, who was driving a 2000 Toyota Camry sedan, police said.

There were no injuries. Police said they issued O’Leary a written warning for making a restricted turn.
