Newtown Cultural Arts Commission Announces Grant Opportunities
Newtown Cultural Arts Commission (NCAC) has announced it will award multiple grants of $1,250 each this season.
Three awards will be made to assist three deserving students in acquiring a higher education in an arts-related field of study. Each recipient must be a graduating senior and Newtown resident who is entering a four-year college or university or two-year community college.
Deadline to apply is March 16, with awards to be announced in June. Details, including an application, are available at newtownartscommission.org.
The grants are open to Newtown High School, private, and home-schooled students.
NCAC is also planning to provide two additional grants this season.
One or more project grants of $1,250 will be awarded to an individual artist residing in Newtown, and the same amount will be awarded to a Newtown-based group, club, or arts organization that enriches the cultural life of the community.
The arts do not need to be the main mission of the group or organization.
Deadline is May 4, and the applications for these grants are also available through the NCAC website.
The funds for the grants come from the proceeds of the 2019 Newtown Arts Festival, a project of NCAC.
This year’s festival has been set for September 25-27.
