Helping Families, One At A Time
To the Editor:
There are families in Newtown struggling to remain in their homes due to financial difficulties. Some of these families face the possibility of having to leave Newtown, where their support system, job, children’s school, etc, are located.
As a nonprofit 501(c)(3 ) organization, Elinors House of Newtown CT is committed to helping meet these housing needs, one family at a time. Our organization was named after a woman named Elinor who lived in Newtown on a very limited income. Becoming familiar with her plight, many people helped her out in various ways. Before her death, we made a promise to her to help others in Newtown who are struggling with housing needs. Elinors House was founded to fulfill that promise.
Our immediate goal is to purchase a house. We can then rent it at an affordable rate to a family otherwise unable to stay in Newtown. This would give them a home while they work on getting back on their feet.
