A special Valentine’s Day edition of The Price is Right was played at the Newtown Senior Center during its Lunch & Learn program on February 14.

While Drew Carey and Bob Barker were nowhere in sight, the game was led by Tracy Brady, executive director of Visiting Angels, and Julie Brown, director of business development for Bethel Heath Care Center and The Cascades Assisted Living Community.

At the start of the program Ms Brady told the crowd about Visiting Angels being a nonmedical in-home agency that serves Fairfield county. Ms Brown also talked about the Bethel Heath Care Center and The Cascades Assisted Living Community services.

Senior Center Assistant Judy Thomas told The Newtown Bee that she was inspired to put together “The Price is Right with Valentine’s flair” to make the afternoon fun for everyone, whether or not they had a significant other to celebrate the day with.

Nearly 50 people registered for the program. Participants were asked to guess prices of items being displayed, and just like the television show, contestants had to be as close as possible to the correct price of the item without going over in order to win.

The first two winners of the game were Gloria Snyder, who received a box of chocolates, and Carolyn Bloomberg, who won a movie night package of microwavable popcorn, cinema-style popcorn bags, Raisinets, and a romance movie on DVD.
