Town Players Announce 2020 Productions, Directors, Season Passes
The Town Players of Newtown is proud to announce the plays that have been selected for production for its 2020 season.
Performances are at The Little Theatre, 18 Orchard Hill Road, and will open in the spring with The Elephant Man.
Terry Polvay will direct the production based on the life of John Merrick, who lived in London in the latter part of the 19th Century and was horribly disfigured
Abandoned and helpless, Merrick was forced to earn a living by serving as a main attraction in traveling side shows. He eventually came under the care of a young doctor who educated and then introduced Merrick to London society.
Auditions are scheduled for Sunday and Monday, February 9-10, and all roles are open. Actors are encouraged to visit newtownplayers.org/audition-details for additional information.
The production is scheduled to open on Friday, April 24, and continue for three weekends.
The summer production will be Good People, directed by Terry Sagedy.
Performances are scheduled for the weekends of July 10-25; auditions are planned for Sunday and Monday, May 3-4.
The autumn production for Town Players will be 12 Angry Jurors, directed by Alexis M. Vournazos.
Performances are planned for weekends, September 18-October 3, with auditions scheduled for Sunday and Monday, July 19-20.
Jeff Spector will direct the 2020 season finale, The Fantasticks, slated for weekends, November 20-December 12. Auditions are scheduled for Sunday, September 6, and Tuesday, September 8.
Each production will include on Thursday evening performance.
Tickets for all shows are on sale. For the first three shows, Friday and Saturday evening tickets are $25, while Sunday matinee and Thursday evening tickets are $20.
For The Fantasticks, tickets are $30 and $25, respectively.
A 20 percent discount is offered for senior citizens and students on Friday and Saturday evening performances.
Season passes are available for $75, allowing ticket-holders to attend all four shows for the price of three.
Seating is general admission, first come first served, but reservations are available to hold tickets.
