Evading Responsibility
Police said they are investigating a sideswipe accident that occurred on Nunnawauk Road about 6:40 am on Wednesday, December 4.
Police said that a dark-colored SUV, which was possibly a Honda CR-V or some similar vehicle, sideswiped another vehicle, after which the driver of the of the offending vehicle left the scene.
Police said the offending vehicle would have physical damage on its driver’s side, with some white paint possibly transferred onto it from the other vehicle. Police ask anyone with knowledge of the incident to contact them at the police station at 203-426-5841 in reference to Case #2019-30496.
Ford Hits Rocks
Motorist Ashley Becker, 21, of Milford was driving a 2014 Ford Focus auto northward on Toddy Hill Road about 7:31 am on December 1, when the vehicle drove off the right road shoulder, and struck some rocks, police report.
Becker pulled off the street near 139 Toddy Hill Road. There were no injuries. Police verbally warned Becker for making a restricted turn.
VW Hits BMW
Motorist Kelsey Dynia, 27, of Newtown, who was driving a 2017 BMW X-1 SUV, at about 12:45 pm on December 1, stopped at a stop sign at the end of eastbound Interstate 84’s Exit 9 off-ramp, after which the BMW was struck from behind by a 2013 Volkswagen Jetta auto driven by Roberta Wilmot, 73, of Norwalk, state police said.
There were no injuries. Wilmot was warned for following too closely.
Chevy Vs BMW
About 3:34 pm on December 1, motorist Sebastian Bogusz, 35, of Wakefield, R.I., who was driving a 2010 BMW 328 auto, stopped at a stop sign on Sherman Street at its intersection with Still Hill Road, police said.
Motorist Stephanie Rodi, 26, of Shelton, who was driving a 2017 Chevrolet Traverse SUV, then slid on the snow-covered Sherman Street and struck the rear end of the BMW, police said. There were no injuries. Police verbally warned Rodi for following too closely.
DUI Arrest
Police report that while traveling northward on South Main Street about 1:37 am on November 30, they stopped a northbound motorist to investigate near 151 South Main Street.
Police charged Peter Selca, 36, of Danbury, with driving under the influence. After processing, police released Selca on $100 bail for a December 10 court appearance.
Acura Vs Honda
In slowing traffic on westbound Interstate 84, east of the Exit 9 off-ramp, at about 5:23 pm on November 30, motorist Jason Lammers, 23, of Wellesley, Mass., who was driving a 2012 Acura TSX sedan, struck the rear end of a 2002 Honda Odyssey minivan driven by Gregory Robinson, 45, of Princeton, N.J., state police said.
There were no injuries. Lammers received an infraction for following too closely.
South Main Collision
At about 5:46 pm on November 30, motorist John Stowe, 66, of Easton, who was driving a 2013 Chevrolet Equinox SUV northward on South Main Street, attempted to make a left turn to enter Plaza South at 266 South Main Street, but in doing so, the Chevrolet collided with a southbound 2003 Nissan Altima auto driven by Marc Rossi, 49, of Sandy Hook, police said.
The Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps went to the scene but made no transport. Stowe received an infraction for failure to grant the right of way.
I-84 Crash
At about 2:18 pm on November 29, at the end of eastbound Interstate 84’s Exit 9 off-ramp, motorist Olga McGuire, 67, of Suffern, N.Y., who was driving a 2017 Nissan Rogue SUV, stopped at a stop sign, after which a 2003 Chrysler PT Cruiser driven by Caesar Cacciola, 51, of Wallkill, N.Y., stopped behind the Nissan, state police said.
The Chrysler then accelerated and struck the rear end of the Nissan. There were no injuries. Cacciola was verbally warned for unsafe movement from a stopped position.
Honda Vs Honda
At about 7:13 am on November 27, on eastbound Wasserman Way, a 2009 Honda Civic auto driven by Navya Seelam, 26, of Danbury, struck the rear end of a 2015 Honda Fit SUV driven by Gary Stewart, 67, of Milford, police said.
There were no injuries. Police said Seelam failed to drive a reasonable distance apart.
Alcohol Violations
Police report that at 9:14 pm on November 27, they arrested Adrian Ajdinoski, 20, of Newtown on charges of illegal use of a driver’s license to obtain liquor and illegal procurement of alcohol by a minor. Police said Ajdinoski was released on $100 bail for a December 12 court appearance. The arrest was part of as townwide drive by police to deter illegal alcohol purchases by minors.
Hyundai Into Guardrail
About 11:16 pm on November 27, motorist Natalie Attick, 18, of Danbury, who was driving a 2015 Hyundai Elantra auto on westbound Interstate 84, near Exit 10, lost control of the vehicle and crashed into some guardrailng, according to state police.
There were no injuries. State police said Attick failed to maintain the travel lane.
Multiple Charges
Police said that based on information that a vehicle being driven on Washington Avenue by Monica Maciog, 38, of Monroe, had a suspended registration, they stopped Maciog to investigate at about 12:02 pm on November 26.
Police report they charged Maciog with possession of narcotics (heroin), failure to have automotive insurance, driving with a suspended registration, driving with a suspended license, and with two counts of second-degree failure to appear in court. Maciog posted $1,050 bail for upcoming court appearances in Danbury and Bridgeport.
SUV Vs SUV
At about 7:30 pm on November 26, motorist Diane Manning, 59, of Oxford was driving a 2008 Honda CR-V SUV westward on Berkshire Road, as motorist Andrew Robillotto, 39, of Shelton, was driving a 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV eastward there, police said.
The Honda then crossed into the opposite lane, resulting in a collision, after which the Honda kept traveling. There were no injuries in the offset-frontal crash. A witness to the incident provided identifying information to police about the Honda.
The crash had occurred near 156 Berkshire Road, and police stopped the Honda near 51 Berkshire Road, after which they investigated and charged Manning with driving under the influence and evading responsibility with a motor vehicle. Manning posted $100 bail for a December 11 court appearance on the charges.
