Tori Gioiele, of Newtown, scored the game-winner in Canterbury School’s 1-0 victory over St. Luke’s of New Canaan in the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council Girls' Soccer Tournament championship at Deerfield Academy in Deerfield, Mass. on November 17. Gioiele, one of the top defenders in the NEPSAC, scored the game’s only goal from 45 yards away as Canterbury won its first NEPSAC championship. Canterbury finished the fall season 18-1 (15-1 regular season), with Gioiele anchoring a defense that held opponents to 10 goals over 19 games.
