Volvo Vs Kenworth

State police report that at about 9:03 pm on October 28, trucker Stacey Grier, 45, of Hamden, who was driving a 2007 Kenworth T-800 construction truck, was parked on the right road shoulder of eastbound Interstate 84’s Exit 9 on-ramp and was waiting for a construction pattern to be set up for a road work project.

At that time, motorist Kerrie Glassman, 43, of Newtown, who was driving a 2017 Volvo XC-60 SUV, veered to the right and struck the parked truck. The Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps transported both drivers to Danbury Hospital, state police said. Glassman received an infraction for failure to maintain the travel lane.

DUI Arrest

State police report they responded to Interstate 84’s combined Exit 11 off-ramp at about 2:47 am on October 29 to investigate a report of an auto accident.

After investigating the incident, state police charged motorist Walter Black, 47, of Waterbury, with driving under the influence and with failure to drive in the proper lane. State police released Black on $1,000 non-surety bail for a November 6 arraignment on the charges before a judge in Connecticut Superior Court in Danbury.

Following Too Closely

About 9:58 pm on October 30 on eastbound Berkshire Road, motorist Gabriela Romandi, 35, of Newtown, who was driving a 2010 Subaru Outback station wagon, stopped at a traffic signal at that street’s intersection with Wasserman Way and was planning to make a right turn onto Wasserman Way, police said.

Motorist Francisco Mantero, 21, of Shelton, who was driving a 2013 Mitsubishi Lancer auto eastward on Berkshire Road, then struck the rear end of the Subaru. There were no injuries. Police issued Mantero a misdemeanor summons for following too closely and for driving with a suspended license, requiring that he appear in court.

Audi Hit

At about 5:20 pm on October 31, motorist Dargie Jappah Mombo, of Southbury, who was driving a 2014 Audi A-8L Quattro AWD sedan eastward on Interstate 84, slowed for heavy traffic and was then struck from behind by a 2008 Honda Civic auto driven by Bronson Antonio Harper, 36, of Southbury, state police said.

There were no injuries. Harper received an infraction for following too closely.

Evading Responsibility

State police report that a New Jersey man, who was driving a Jeep Cherokee SUV on eastbound Interstate 84, west of Exit 10, at about 4:40 pm on November 1, in heavy, slow-moving traffic, stopped for traffic conditions, after which the Jeep was struck from behind by a motorist driving a white van with Pennsylvania marker plates. There were no injuries.

The two drivers then pulled off the highway to exchange information, state police said. After providing a license, which listed her identity as Nataisha Hall, 22, of Flushing, Queens, New York City, the woman who was driving the van drove away before state police arrived to investigate. State police ask anyone with information about the incident to contact Trooper Daniel Albohn at Troop A in Southbury at 203-267-2240.

Hawleyville Accident

Trucker Segundo Raul Vazquez-Romero, 31, of Danbury, was driving a 2009 Hino 338 truck southward on Hawleyville Road and then stopped for backed-up traffic at a red traffic signal at that street’s intersection with Mt Pleasant Road at about 4:56 pm on November 1, police said.

Southbound motorist Elaine Barrett, 88, of Sherman, who was driving a 2015 Subaru Forester station wagon, then struck the rear end of the Hino. There were no injuries. Police verbally warned Barrett for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.

Construction Equipment

At about 5:56 pm on November 1, motorist John Kallivrousis, 87, of Monroe, who was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck on Hall Lane, stopped at a stop sign and then attempted to make a right turn onto Currituck Road, police said.

In attempting to turn, the Chevrolet struck a 2013 Kubota KX-0803 front-loader, which was parked in the right travel lane on Currituck Road. There were no injuries.

Police said they issued the Kubota’s owner — Nardi Masonry Construction LLC of Newtown — verbal warnings for improper parking and also for failure to have a traffic flagger present for a parked construction vehicle that is unattended and obstructing a lane of traffic.

Mechanical Trouble

Police said they received a call from Elis Watson, no age or address given, about 11:47 pm on November 1, reporting to them that the vehicle he was driving experienced mechanical problems in the area near Covered Bridge Road in Hawleyville.

Police responded to investigate and learned that the vehicle was unregistered and also bore the marker plates that belong on another vehicle. Police charged Watson with driving an unregistered vehicle and with misuse of marker plates. Watson was released on a written promise to appear in court on November 18.

Interstate Crash

At about 11:35 am on November 2, motorist Susan DeLucia, 58, of New Milford, who was driving a 2019 Toyota RAV-4 SUV, stopped at the end of westbound Interstate 84’s Exit 9 off-ramp, after which the Toyota was struck from behind by a 2018 Dodge Grand Caravan minivan driven by Bradley Perry, 40, of Nashua, N.H.

DeLucia reported pain but refused medical treatment, state police said. State police verbally warned Perry for following too closely.

Honda Vs Honda

At about 9:28 pm on November 2, motorist Michel Hourani, 60, of Brookfield, who was driving a 2015 Honda CR-V SUV, was parallel-parked on the southbound road shoulder of Glen Road, near its intersection with Church Hill Road, as southbound motorist Joanne Glenn, 68, of Woodbury was driving a 2015 Honda Civic auto nearby, police said.

The CR-V then entered the southbound travel lane, resulting in the two Hondas colliding. There were no injuries. Police verbally warned Hourani for the unsafe movement of a parked vehicle.

Volkswagen Vs Pole

Police report that at about 9:58 pm on November 2, motorist Thomas Maier, 30, of Danbury, who was driving a 2017 Volkswagen Jetta auto northward on Boggs Hill Road, near Willow Brook Lane, at a sharp left curve in the roadway drove off the road and struck a utility pole.

Maier was not injured. Police issued him an infraction for making a restricted turn.

Hawleyville DUI

Police report that while on patrol at about 8 pm on November 6, they encountered a disabled vehicle in the vicinity of Hawleyville Road and Covered Bridge Road in Hawleyville, so they stopped to investigate.

Police said they charged motorist Rafael Cortes-Sanchez. 40, of Waterbury with driving under the influence. After processing, police released him on $100 bail for a November 21 appearance in Connecticut Superior Court in Danbury.
