To the Editor:

New ideas. Fresh look at existing policies. Ability to do detailed critical analysis of ideas/policies and to constructively work with people to implement ideas and effect change to policies. These are some of the attributes that a talented newcomer can bring to the Legislative Council, and they are precisely why we heartily endorse Cathy Reiss for the Legislative Council, District 1.

Cathy gained experience in working on and leading complex projects in the corporate world (IBM) for over 15 years. She was actively involved in Newtown Public School functions from kindergarten through high school as her children went through the school system. She has been a leader in her church, currently serving as treasurer and on the Church Council. We have personally worked with Cathy for many years on a number of volunteer and community outreach programs, including her work with Maggie, the Comfort Dog. She has been a leader in that effort, both in a management/handler role and in a community interface role. We have found Cathy to be highly organized, a critical thinker, a very effective communicator, a careful listener, and one with a special knack for moving things forward by gaining consensus in a non-confrontational way.

These special qualities will make Cathy Reiss an excellent, effective legislator for District 1!
