A Diverse Perspective To Serve Newtown

To the Editor:

Since kicking off my campaign for the Legislative Council in District 3, I’ve had the privilege of meeting a wide variety of people in town — families who are newer to Newtown but came because of the great reputation of our schools, seniors who have proudly raised their families here and have opted to stay in the town they love, college kids and young adults who were raised here, but have yet to put down roots themselves and whose future is dependent on where they can find jobs and afford to live. It’s been a truly rewarding experience to hear from such a diverse set of people, all with very different perspectives on what matters and how to tackle the major issues facing our town.

I believe this diversity of perspectives is something to cherish and that all of these voices should be represented on the Legislative Council. If elected, I believe I can be one of these diverse voices: someone who is new to local government and politics; is raising a young family in town; and brings fresh, new ideas to the table that can help move Newtown forward.

For as many different people that I’ve met at their doorsteps, at community events, and yes, at the transfer station, there’s one commonality we all share: we all love Newtown and believe that community matters.

No matter who you vote for, please remember to vote on November 5th. Your voice deserves to be heard! And if you live in District 3, I hope to have earned your vote for the Legislative Council.

Thank you,

Alison Plante

Candidate for Legislative Council, District 3

7 Winding Brook Road, Newtown October 30, 2019
