Lawrence Cavanaugh
Lawrence A. "Larry" Cavanaugh, 80, of Newtown died March 23, at Danbury Hospital. He was born in Waterbury on September 6, 1937, son of the late Frances (Pettit) and JohnÃÂ Cavanaugh.
His loving wife of 57 years, Marcia; his beloved daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Bill Patrizio; his adored granddaughter, Cristina; and his younger brother, David, survive him.
In addition to his parents, his brothers, John and Dr Roland Cavanaugh, predeceased him.
MrÃÂ Cavanaugh was a cum laude graduate of Fairfield University, Trinity College, and the University of Connecticut School of Law. He was a member of the Connecticut and New York Bar Associations. He was a patent attorney and corporate attorney for United Technologies for more than 30 years. He worked also for Siemens A.G. in New York City.
Upon retirement, he operated his own real estate management firm, Heights Realty and Management. He served as president of the Connecticut chapter of the Institute of Real Estate Managers (IREM) and taught at Naugatuck Valley Community College. He was a communicant of St Rose of Lima Church, where he served as usher for many years and belonged to the Knights of Columbus Honor Guard.
Mr Cavanaugh was loved and admired by those who knew him for his keen intellect, quick wit, and charming personality. He was an excellent swimmer, skier, and golfer. He enjoyed travel to every country in Europe, each of the United States, as well as to Canada and Mexico.
The family will receive friends at Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, on Thursday, April 5, from 4 to 7 pm.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St Rose Church, Church Hill Road, Newtown, on Friday, April 6, at 11 am. Burial will be in St Rose Cemetery, Sandy Hook.
