More Students At Western

DANBURY – For several years Western Connecticut State University has experienced an increase in student enrollment, and this fall is no exception.  This year, student enrollment increased by four percent, with a gain of 217 students over the previous year.

Western’s student body now stands at 5,589 including full-time  (3,101), part-time (1,557) and graduate students (931). Overall, the biggest increases occurred among new full-time freshmen, an increase of 8.3 percent (54 students); new full-time transfer students, an increase of 9.4 percent (24 students); and new part-time students, an increase of 29.8 percent (96 students).  Other increases include full-time undergraduate enrollment by 4.6 percent and part-time undergraduate enrollment by 7.6 percent.

Along with the increased enrollment, and with the addition of Western’s fifth dormitory, A. Searle Pinney, Hall, the number of students living in the residence halls has increased over last fall by over 150 students.
