Osborne Homestead Museum Reopening For The Season
DERBY â The Osborne Homestead Museum will open for the new season on Saturday, May 8. Flowering trees, fragrant shrubs, and beautiful flowers create a lovely spring backdrop for the elegant Colonial Revival mansion.
With guided tours centered upon the life of Frances Osborne Kellogg, new and returning visitors will leave with a renewed appreciation of womenâs history, Connecticutâs conservation milestones, decorative arts, and life at the turn of the last century.
A visit to the museum can be enriched by a stroll through the Kellogg Estate gardens or by a hike through the forests and meadows of Osbornedale State Park.
Osborne Homestead Museum is open for guided tours on Thursdays and Fridays from 10 am to 3 pm, Saturdays from 10 am to 4 pm, and Sundays, from noon to 4 pm. There is no admission fee; donations are gratefully accepted.
Group tours can be arranged by contacting the Kellogg Environmental Center at 734-2513.
The Osborne Homestead Museum, operated by the Department of Environmental Protectionâs Office of Communications and Education, is at 500 Hawthorne Avenue; signs are posted from Route 34.
