Eclipse Onto Lawn

Motorist Patrick Stimmel, 19, of Brookfield was driving a 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse hatchback northward on Currituck Road about 12:25 am March 28, when the auto went off the right side of the street and onto the lawn at 14 Currituck Road, police said.

The Mitsubishi then drove across the driveway there and dislodged an edging brick next to the driveway, police said.

Stimmel was not injured, according to police. Police issued him a written warning for making a restricted turn.

Chain Reaction

A three-vehicle chain-reaction accident occurred near 119 Berkshire Road (Route 34) about 4:39 pm March 27.

Eastbound motorist Rachel Peters, 17, of 26 Charter Ridge Drive, who was driving a 1998 Honda Civic sedan, stopped for traffic conditions, after which eastbound motorist Sandra Zuvanich, 47, of 8 Chestnut Hill Road, who was driving a 2004 Honda Odyssey minivan, stopped behind the Civic, police said.

Eastbound motorist Taylor Ansbro, 18, of 1 Harvest Common Road, who was driving a 2003 Audi A-6 sedan, then attempted to stop, but drove into the rear end of the Odyssey, pushing the Odyssey into the rear end of the Civic, police said.

There were no injuries. Police issued Ansbro a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.

Church Hill Accident

About 3:37 pm March 24, motorist Anthony Diana, 73, of Derby, who was driving a 2007 Ford Fusion sedan westward on Church Hill Road, attempted to make a left turn into the Blue Colony Diner driveway at 66 Church Hill Road, but collided with eastbound motorist James Carr, 41, of Waterbury, who was driving a 2008 Nissan Altima sedan, police said.

There were no injuries. Police said they verbally warned Diana for making a restricted turn.

 

NHS Incident

Police arrested a 15-year-old boy on four criminal charges on March 20 in connection with a March 14 incident at the Newtown High School grounds.

Police said the youth was skateboarding at the high school grounds, after which he entered a vehicle parked in a parking lot, stole a digital media player from the vehicle, and then intentionally damaged the player.

Police said they arrested the boy on charges of third-degree burglary, sixth-degree larceny, third-degree criminal mischief, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Following arrest processing, police released the boy on a written promise to appear March 30 in Danbury Juvenile Court. State law conceals the identities of people under age 18 who are charged with crimes.

Toyota Hits Metal

Motorist Vanessa Pettengill, 29, of 41 Riverside Road, who was driving a 2002 Toyota RAV-4 SUV on westbound Interstate 84, near Exit 9, about 9 am on March 28, collided with a piece of metal lying on the roadway, state police said.

The impact damaged the SUV’s undercarriage and also caused a tire to blow out. Pettengill was not injured, state police said.

Rear-Ender

Motorist Lynn Petrosemolo-French, 42, of Hamden, who was driving a 2006 Volkswagen Beetle, was merging onto Wasserman Way from Interstate 84’s Exit 11 off-ramp about 5 pm on March 26, when the Volkswagen was struck from behind by motorist John Estock, Jr, 64, of Danbury, who was driving a 2002 Toyota Sienna minivan, state police said.

Petrosemolo-French reported pain due to the collision, state police said. Estock received an infraction for following too closely, according to state police.

F-250 Vs F-150

About 4:46 pm on March 25, motorist Ronald Ondatje, 60, of Wallingford, who was driving a 2006 Ford F-150 pickup truck, was slowing for traffic conditions near Exit 11 of Interstate 84, when he was struck from behind by motorist M. Post, 64, of Terryville, who was driving a 2005 Ford F-250 pickup truck, state police said.

There were no injuries. State police verbally warned Post for following too closely.

South Main Collision

About 3:30 pm March 25, motorist Eve Ann Stowell, 46, of Bennetts Bridge Road was driving a 2006 Land Rover SUV southward near 255 South Main Street, as motorist Edward Browser, 72, of Danbury was driving a 2009 Chevrolet sedan northward there, police report.

The Land Rover then attempted to make a left turn into the southernmost driveway of Waterfall Plaza, police said. The Chevrolet attempted to avoid an impact, but the two vehicles collided, police said.

There were no injuries. Police said they issued Stowell a written warning for making a restricted turn.

Toddy Hill Road

A three-vehicle chain-reaction accident occurred on Toddy Hill Road, near its intersection with Berkshire Road, about 5 pm March 25.

Motorist Kathleen Tarascio, 48, of Southbury, who was driving a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica SUV, stopped for traffic conditions, after which motorist Richard Musich, 51, of Southbury, who was driving a 2009 Toyota Corolla sedan, stopped behind the Chrysler, police said.

Motorist Robert Pagniello, 47, of Port Chester, N.Y., who was driving a 1992 Mercury Sable sedan, then struck the rear end of the Toyota, pushing the Toyota into the rear end of the Chrysler, police said.

There were no injuries. Police verbally warned Pagniello for following too closely.

Wasserman Way

Police report a two-vehicle accident on Wasserman Way about 7:08 pm March 30.

Motorist Hamilton S. Farias, 42, of Bethel, who was driving a 2007 Honda Ridgeline pickup truck, was in the process of parking the truck along the eastbound road shoulder of Wasserman Way, as motorist Gary A. Daula, 34, of 107 Berkshire Road was driving a 2005 Audi A-4 convertible eastward there, police said.

The Honda then started to enter the road’s eastbound lane and collided with the Audi, police said.

There were no injuries. Police said they issued Farias an infraction for making a restricted turn.

 

Warrant

After learning that police held a warrant for his arrest, Justin Lahm, 21, of Danbury went to the police station about noon on April 1, and was charged with second-degree failure to appear in court, driving under the influence, and failure to obey a stop sign, police said.

Police said the vehicular charges stem from an early morning incident last June in which Lahm allegedly drove through a stop sign at an intersection of Mt Pleasant Road and Blackman Road.

After he posted $250 bail on April 1, police released Lahm for an April 15 court appearance.
