Summer Reading Supporters Thanked
Summer Reading Supporters Thanked
To the Editor:
The C.H. Booth Library would like to thank area businesses who supported this yearâs summer reading program. Children who read 20 books received a voucher for a Rock Cats game, a pizza slice from My Place, a donut from Dunkinâ Donuts, and a free book from the Friends of the Library. Additional raffle prizes were donated by the following businesses:
Southbury Karate Academy: Martial Arts Party for 12 plus 30 certificates for a free month of Karate lessons; Ta-Da!: theme party for 12; Hydrangea Blue: party for 7; Magic Garden: 21 Webkinz; Francoâs: 23 personal pan pizzas; Ferris Acres: $20 gift certificate; and Fun Kuts: $16 gift certificate.
Children could earn a raffle ticket every time they read five books. These wonderful prizes helped to motivate children to continue to read all summer. As a result, our statistics were increased by 2,000 books. This program also owes a debt of gratitude to the 34 volunteers who listened to the younger readers report on the books they were reading. As a group they volunteered 522 hours of their time.
We would also like to recognize the Drug Center for donating balloons for our 75th birthday party and of course Stop & Shop for the beautiful birthday cakes.
