Animal Lovers Of All Ages Can Help Local Advocates
Kelsea Morshuk loves animals. So much so that the young Newtown resident she decided recently to forego receiving early birthday presents at her annual Halloween/birthday party and asked instead for donations to give to Canine Advocates of Newtown.
Canine Advocates has been raising funds for a few years to cover what it will cost to design and construct a new pound for Newtown. The group is also dedicated to seeing that every dog and cat adopted from the Newtown pound is spayed or neutered.
Last week, the almost 11-year-old presented more than $400 in cash, checks, and pet supplies to Canine Advocates Vice President Adria Henderson. Ms Henderson told Kelsea she was touched by her efforts, and impressed by her determination to help.
For her part, Kelsea, a fifth grade student at Reed Intermediate School who will celebrate her birthday on November 26, is vowing to do even more. With 17 pets of her own, and her dream of owning the âworldâs biggest aquarium,â Kelsea plans on making the world a better place for all animals.
âBut first, I have to talk my mom into adopting seven more dogs and four more cats,â Kelsea said after visiting the current guests of the Newtown Pound.
