To the Editor:

The Connecticut Young Democrats wholeheartedly endorses Christopher B. Lyddy, who is a candidate for Newtown’s Legislative Council, District 1. He is one of 42 outstanding candidates endorsed by our organization, 35 of which are under the age of 36.

A lifelong resident of Newtown, Chris has been recognized by Secretary of the State Susan Bysiewicz for outstanding citizenship, leadership, and commitment to civic organizations. He has also been recognized by local and state Parent Teacher Associations as well as the Connecticut Education Connection. In 2001, Chris was honored with the Gail Smith Youth Service Award.

Chris has said on many occasions the he measures leadership by what and how much one is able to help other people accomplish and by his own measurement, he has brought great leadership to our organization. Through his tireless efforts to get young people involved in the political process and concern for addressing the issues that affect young voters living in our great state, Chris has shown he has what it takes to bring positive change to the Newtown community. 

We are proud to endorse Christopher Lyddy and look forward to continuing to work with him after the town of Newtown gives its endorsement on November 6.
