Original & Direct Music By Woodâs Tea Company At Keeler Tavern
RIDGEFIELD â Woodâs Tea Company will bring its hearty blend of maritime, American and Celtic folk music to Keeler Tavern Museum on Saturday, September 15, for an 8 pm performance. The concert will be held in the Cass Gilbert Garden House, on the grounds of the museum.
The Vermont-based group of four skilled musicians is known for its easygoing and witty rapport with audiences. As many as a dozen different instruments are used by the award-winning band, including the tin whistle, bodhran, concertina and bezouki, along with the more familiar guitar, string bass, fiddle and banjo.
Folk music legend Woody Guthrie was an early inspiration for the band. Members have said they appreciated his originality and his directness. Their music, which can be enjoyed on seven CDs and tapes, reflects those same qualities.
Recently the group played an outdoor concert at Lincoln Center that drew over 1,000 enthusiastic listeners. Keeler Tavernâs intimate setting will ensure attendees a close-up view of the guys in trademark suspenders, with plenty of witty and humorous tunes for a foot-thumping good eveningâs entertainment.
Tickets, available at the door, are $12 and include free refreshments. For further information on The Woodâs Tea Company visit their web site at www.woodstea.net. For more information on the September 15 concert, call the museum office at 203-438-5485.
Keeler Tavern is at 132 Main Street/Route 35 in Ridgefield.
