Lunch Programs At New JF Campus

SOUTHBURY –– The Federation of Jewish Communities of Western Connecticut is holding a new senior lunch program with education lectures and entertaining programs at the new Walzer Family Jewish Community Campus at 444 Main Street North.

On May 1, classical guitarist Fred Krug, a recent graduate of the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, N.Y., will perform a Bach suite, a piece by Leo Brouwer of Cuba, and several other selections after the noon luncheon.

On Thursday, May 8, attorney Gary Jones, head of the Middle East task for the Anti-Defamation League and a past regional chairman of the Anti Defamation League, will be the guest speaker. Mr Jones, who works for a law firm in Hartford, said the program will be an open dialogue with the audience in which he will answer questions about global terrorism and what is happening on college campuses across the United States, as well as any other topics of interest and concern to the community.

On May 15, there will be a presentation by Dawn Macary of the Western Connecticut Area on Aging about the agency’s caregiver and respite programs, Medicare and Medicaid savings updates, and other topics.

Reservations are requested a week in advance for the programs. The suggested donation for the luncheons are $5.50 for seniors and $8 for those under age 60. To RSVP, call Debby Horowitz at 267-3177, extension 105. Starting in June, the luncheons will be moved to Tuesdays at noon.
