Broadway And Beyond:

The Life Of Agnes deMille

Broadway actress Carole Schweid will bring the world of choreographer Agnes deMille back to life in an extraordinary performance presentation at C.H. Booth Library on Friday, October 3, at 7 pm. The lively show will feature plenty of singing and dancing with a special focus on the play Oklahoma! which was Ms deMille’s first Broadway hit.

“Broadway and Beyond” will take its audience back to the early 1940s and with the help of a little music and a little dancing explore the forces that helped to create such a blockbuster, how its enormous success affected the lives of the creative team, and how their lives ultimately turned their work into something unique, personal, and universal.

Carole Schweid studied theater at Boston University and has a BFA in dance from Julliard. Since graduation Ms Schweid has worked on dozens of shows on and off Broadway, many regional theater productions, a few short lived TV series and a couple of films.

Since moving to Connecticut, she has enjoyed being a member of the Theater Artists Workshop, helped to direct Forbidden Westport at Westport Country Playhouse, and produces a lunchtime theater series called “Play with Your Food.”

“Broadway and Beyond” is free but reservations are suggested and can be made by calling the library at 426-4533. Coffee and dessert will be served after the performance.
