Police Plan

Sobriety Checkpoint This Weekend

Police plan to conduct a motorist sobriety checkpoint on the night of Saturday, August 30, and early morning hours of Sunday, August 31. Police did not disclose where in town the checkpoint will be held.

At the checkpoint, each passing motorist will be stopped and briefly interviewed by police to determine whether they have been using alcohol or drugs.

The summertime sobriety checkpoint program and roving patrols are budgeted at $15,700 in police overtime. Of that amount, $11,775 is covered by a federal highway safety grant.
