“This is a very tough assignment for me. How do I communicate the respect I have for and the relationship I have with Marcus Tracy? Player – coach relationships develop over a period of time, just like any other partnership. It takes time for the player and coach to connect and feel comfortable that both the players needs are being met along with the teams. The hardest players to coach are ones that do not get the “team” concept and put their goals above others. This tends to happen with “superstars.” Marcus very easily could have fallen into this trap but with a solid family unit and great character this was never an issue. This allowed are relationship to grow and he did not get in the way of the team; he let me coach. Everyone knows what a great athlete Marcus is and you only need to see him once to realize that. At times I tended to take this for granted. So, my favorite experiences are the times watching someone else watch Marcus play for the first time and how excited they got. This reminds me of how lucky I was to on to be on the sidelines watching him for the past four years.” – NHS soccer coach Brian Neumeyer
