For Peanut Butter
And Jelly Tower

Come on â admit it â nothingâs more fun than playing with your food.
To build their peanut butter and jelly âtowerâ on July 15, Park and Recreation campers each donated one dollar for counselors to purchase eight loaves of white bread, three jars of grape jelly and three jars of peanut butter.
The activity was the brainchild of counselor Josh Tennenbaum, a junior at Newtown High School.
âI was just thinking of fun things the kids could do, working together,â he said. The kids had high hopes for an even higher sandwich.
âI thought [the tower] might go really high â like seven feet!â declared camper Patrick Binio.
After reaching five feet, however, the massive stack, built along a wooden rod, began to sink into delectable gooiness.
Then, the giant sandwich literally began to crumble, chunks of bread falling like melting drops of ice cream.
âI was happy that [the tower] made it to five feet,â said camper Matt Bobkowski. âIt was a lot of fun to make.â
âI canât wait to eat it!â laughed another camper, Nick Tramontozzi. âI love peanut butter and jelly!â
The campers ate the ruins of their efforts for lunch.
