'Exit The Body' To Be On Brookfield Stage
âExit The Bodyâ To Be On Brookfield Stage
BROOKFIELD â The Country Players of Brookfield will present Exit the Body, a mystery play with a big helping of farce that offers an entertaining evening of who-done-it high comedy for area theatergoers.
A mystery writer, played by Catherine Malek of Brookfield, rents a New England house that is the rendezvous point for some jewel thieves. The focal point of the setting is the closet, which opens into a living room and a library.
A body found in the closet promptly disappears, only to be succeeded by another. The hunt for the jewels reaches a climax at two in the morning when four couples unknown to each other turn up to search.
The hunt includes cast members Kelli Mohan as the secretary, Kelly Mullins as Jenny the housekeeper, and townspeople Judy Sullivan, Kristi McKeever, Ron Malyszka, Stephen Ross, Steve Hoose, Mike Troetti, and Alexis Vournazos.
Director Gene Golaszewski, a Brookfield resident and playhouse board member, who directed last seasonâs Spiderâs Web, feels the mystery-comedy genre is perfect for community theater. âThese are classic, timeless plays that are funny and entertaining for the whole family,â Mr Golaszewski said. âExit the Body is one of my favorite works because the elements of mistaken identity, secrets, chases, lighting tricks, and door slamming make for fast-paced fun. It certainly keeps the cast and crew on their toes.â
Producer Alexis Vournazos has assembled an experienced production crew including set decorator Rita Golaszewski, costumer Eileen Curran, and lighting designer Tom Volpe.
Exit the Body opens Friday, September 7, at the playhouse on Route 25 in Brookfield Center. It will continue on Friday and Saturday evenings through September 29.
Tickets are $10 and all performances start at 8 pm. There is one Sunday matinee performance scheduled for September 23 at 2:30 pm. Call the playhouse at 775-0023.
