Scholarship Deadline Approaching

STAMFORD — Rising high school seniors from throughout Connecticut are eligible for the 2005 Stamford Symphony Instrumental Scholarship Competition. High school seniors during the 2005-06 school year who reside in the state and play an orchestral instrument are encouraged to apply. The receipt deadline for applications is September 26.

First price in the instrumental scholarship competition, The Jeniam Foundation Scholarship, will provide the winner with $20,000 ($5,000 annually) for the pursuit of advanced music study at an accredited conservatory, college or university.

Second place, The Janet Meeker Scholarship, is a $4,000 award, also paid over four years.

Third place, The Sandwich Maestro Prize, is $500.
