Woman’s Club Makes Donations

The Newtown Woman’s Club has voted to donate $11,3115 to help support various civic and charitable causes.

A total of $8,000 was given to the following local agencies and organizations: Newtown Volunteer Ambulance, Newtown Hospice, Meals on Wheels, the Cyrenius Booth Library, Displaced Homemakers Fund, and the FAITH Food Pantry.

The balance of $3,115 was distributed to the following organizations: Connecticut Radio Information System (CRIS); Newtown Woman’s Club scholarship; the fire companies for an insurance policy for widows and orphans; the General Federation of Woman’s Clubs (GFWC) Resource Center; the Arthritis Foundation; CARE; GFWC Memorial Scholarship (Phipps); the Hugh O’Brien Youth (HOBY); Special Olympics; Veterans; and GFWC.

The money was raised through many projects sponsored by the local club since last September.
