Sandwich Generation &  Caregivers Lecture Series

SOUTHBURY — Brownstein Jewish Family Service of the Federation-Jewish Communities of Western Connecticut is offering a Sandwich Generation/Caregivers three-part series of lectures in June.

Whether attendees are helping out aging parents while raising their own children, caring for an ailing spouse, juggling schedules of home health aides for a relative, or wondering how to spend down dad’s assets so he is eligible for Medicaid, these lectures will provide helpful advice and information.

These free programs are open to the public and are on three Tuesday nights in June. They will run from 7 until 8:30 pm.

On June 3, Jennifer Tanger, a licensed clinical social worker from Connecticut Visiting Nurses Association, will talk about being a family caregiver. On June 10, Attorney Tom Sutnik, a probate judge from Southbury, will talk about legal and probate issues faced by caregivers. On June 17, staff from Danbury Hospital’s Behavioral Health Department will talk about “The Balancing Act”: how to have a healthy relationship with your kids and parents.

The lectures will take place in the library at the Walzer Family Jewish Community Campus, 444 Main Street North. As space is limited, reservations should be made with Debby Horowitz, 267-3177, extension 105, as soon as possible.
