Wesley G. Evans, 82, died August 22 at Branford Hospice after a brief battle with cancer. He was the widower of Regina (Gunzburger) Evans. Mr Evans was born June 27, 1921, in Danville, Va., the son of the late George and Ophelia (Saddler) Evans.
Mr Evans was a World War II veteran serving in the Army and he worked as an optician fitting and designing contact lenses and glasses with offices in the White Plains, Bronxville, Mount Kisco, and Bedford, N.Y., areas. He was a longtime member and treasurer of the Newtown Spay and Neuter Association, past president of the New York Optical Society, and he was a member of the Masons. He enjoyed gardening and golfing.
Among his survivors are a son, Dean Evans of Woodbury, a daughter, Leslee Bowman of Hopewell Junction, N.Y.; a brother, Ellwood Evans of Florida; seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren, as well as several nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by nine brothers.

Services for Mr Evans were private. The Woodbury Funeral Home of Munson-Lovetree, Route 6, Main Street South, was in charge of arrangements.
