Mr and Mrs Kenneth Ballard, Jr
Dawn Renee Barney, daughter of Kenneth and Charlene Barney of Sandy Hook, and Kenneth Halcyon Ballard, Jr, son of Kenneth and Elizabeth Ballard, Danbury, were joined in marriage at the Newtown United Methodist Church, Sandy Hook, on December 31, 2004. The Rev Terry Pfeiffer officiated.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a traditional white wedding gown by Alfred Angelo with an eight-foot train. She carried a bouquet of white roses and calla lilies.
The matron of honor, Michelle Battistelli of Myrtle Beach, S.C., wore a platinum gown and carried red roses and calla lilies.
Lisa DePaoli, Brookfield, sister of the bride; Lynne Lansford, Fredericksburg, Va., sister of the groom; Amy Capilupi, Danbury, sister of the groom; Karen Barney, New Milford, sister-in-law of the bride; and Laura DeLeo, Danbury, served as bridesmaids. All of the attendants wore platinum gowns and carried bouquets of red roses and white calla lilies.
The brideâs goddaughter, Carly Barney, New Milford, and the groomâs goddaughter, Andrea Capilupi, Danbury, served as flower girls.
The groomâs cousin, Robbie Visconti, Myrtle Beach was best man.
Ushers were Pat Barney, New Milford, brother of the bride; Kenny Barney, New Fairfield, brother of the bride; Max Capilupi, Danbury, brother-in-law to the groom; Scott Clifford, Danbury; and Ben Torres, Danbury.
The bride, a Newtown High School graduate, received her masterâs in school counseling from Western Connecticut State University and is currently completing a PhD at the University of Connecticut in counseling psychology. She is director of the Danbury Even Start Program for the Danbury Public Schools.
The groom, a graduate of Henry Abbott Technical School, is employed as a wholesale driver and shop steward for Teamsters Local 677 at Marcus Dairy in Danbury.
After a wedding trip to Hawaii and Las Vegas, the couple now resides in Sandy Hook.
