Amalia Caggiano, 87, a resident of Nunnawauk Meadows, Newtown, died November 15, at Danbury Hospital. She was born in Bologna, Italy, September 11, 1922.
Mrs Caggiano moved to this country in 1947 and resided in Bridgeport. Her family moved to Monroe in 1962, where she lived for many years before moving to Newtown. She worked for the Valve Corporation of America in Bridgeport for many years, and retired from DuPont.
She was an active member of the Residents Association of Nunnawauk Meadows and volunteered her time and money to various activities. She was a member of the Red Hat Society of Newtown.
Amalia leaves her devoted family, a son, Vincent Caggiano and his wife, Janet, of Watertown; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three bothers; two sister-in-laws, including Dolores Bertola of Newtown; her dear friend Mary Panciera; and many loving nieces and nephews and godchildren. She will be missed by her many friends. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Vincent âJimmyâ Caggiano, and her daughter Ana Maria Caggiano; a brother; and her parents.
Calling hours are from 5 to 7 pm, Friday, December 11, in the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown. A prayer service will be held at 7 pm. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery will be at the convenience of the family.
