Sugar Lane Resubdivision Approved
Sugar Lane Resubdivision Approved
The Planning and Zoning Commission (P&Z) has approved a two-lot resubdivision of property for one of its members.
Applicant Stephen Koch of 50 Sugar Lane, representing himself and his wife, Jean, presented plans for the resubdivision to P&Z members at their June 21 meeting at Canaan House at Fairfield Hills. Mr Koch, a longtime member of the P&Z, did not vote on his application.
The resubdivision divides 6.1 acres at 50 Sugar Lane into two lots.
Mr Koch presented mapping on the resubdivision proposal to members for their review. P&Z member Robert Poulin had several questions about technical aspects of the resubdivision plans.
Jason Levy of 56 Sugar Lane also had several questions about the resubdivision.
Mr Levy expressed concerns about residential growth and increased traffic on Sugar Lane. Sugar Lane is a narrow residential street, north of Sugar Street, which intersects with Sugar Street at two points. Sugar Lane is the location of Castle Hill Farm, which is a working dairy farm, plus a number of single-family homes.
In explaining his application, Mr Koch said he has no plans for house construction. He said he expects he will put the newly created house lot on the real estate market in the future.
