Audubon Awarded Grant From GE Foundation

Connecticut Audubon was among 55 Connecticut nonprofit organizations to recently benefit from $1.26 million contributed through the GE Foundation’s More Gifts…More Givers Program last year.

Connecticut Audubon received a check for $18,452 from the GE Foundation, matching contributions made by GE employees and retirees in 2002. The grant will be used to support Connecticut Audubon’s environmental education programs.

To gain approval for matching gifts, organizations must demonstrate widespread community interest and strong education and outreach programs to disadvantaged or disabled populations. They must also have a history of strong volunteer involvement and proven potential for broad-based financial support from GE employees and retirees.

Over the years, Connecticut Audubon has benefited from the matching gifts program. Many GE employees and retirees have made contributions that have been matched by the fund.
