To the Editor:

I am writing in full support of Neil Chaudhary to serve on Newtown’s Police Commission, which is responsible for Traffic and Public Safety. Neil’s “fit” for this position is amazing, and Newtown would be well-served having him as a public servant in this capacity.

I have had the pleasure of knowing Neil (and his family) for nearly five years, and they have been a wonderful asset to the town. Neil has shown his dedication to the town through his focused work with the Legislative Council and numerous other volunteer positions.

Neil, as others have noted, is a leader in his field of injury prevention. Neil and I worked together to put together a distracted driving informational forum in Newtown geared towards actionable methods to protect our residents. I have reached out to Neil on several occasions to get insight on topics related to school bus safety and pedestrian safety. I met with him in the state capital to see the results of his (and others’) efforts at reducing deaths among our teen drivers and was amazed at the results. I respect, trust, and utilize Neil’s expertise when it comes to public and traffic safety issues in the Connecticut General Assembly.

As much as Neil is a consummate professional, it is his kindness and consideration for his family and fellow neighbors that equally impresses me. Neil as a family man is patient as a parent, supportive as a husband, and respectful to his elders. Neil as a neighbor is charitable, supportive, and generous with his time and efforts. Please join me in supporting Neil Chaudhary on Election Day.
