Vote For Your Favorite Dog To Help The Dog Pound
Vote For Your Favorite Dog To Help The Dog Pound
Photos of 35 dogs are on display at Edmond Town Hall in the dog contest being sponsored by Canine Advocates of Newtown, Inc. The winner is the dog that gets the most votes postmarked by June 30.
Votes are $1 each and participants can send in as many votes as desired for any dog. All proceeds will help the dogs in the Newtown pound.
Votes and checks should be sent to Canine Advocates of Newtown, PO Box 236, Newtown CT 06470. No contest entry form is needed, but be sure to specify which dog is getting the vote.
Animal artist Beth Connolly will paint a portrait of the winning dog.
Canine Advocates is a nonprofit group of dedicated volunteers who provide daily walks and socialization for dogs at the pound. Canine Advocates pay for the dogsâ shots and the complete cost of spaying and neutering. The goal is to help all the dogs find loving homes, and to this end the dogs are publicized on the website www.CanineAdvocates.org, and on www.PetFinder.com.
The Bee advertises the pound dogs weekly until adoption. With the cooperation of many local businesses, volunteers post more than 100 fliers for each dog. Eventually the right person sees the right dog in one of these places, and one more family is happy and complete.
Canine Advocates has established The Sonny Fund to honor a lost or loved pet while helping a dog in need. Members talk to childrenâs groups about proper dog care, help with private adoptions, and provide counseling for a variety of dog-related issues. New volunteers are always welcome. All donations are tax deductible.
Information about the contest is also on Canine Advocatesâ website.
