Walsh defeated Charter Communications and Pizza Palace to go to 2-0 while Newtown Amoco, a new entrant in the league, opened with convincing victories over Newtown Color Center and Kerler/Burton.

WALSH LOGGING 47, CHARTER COMMUNICATIONS 27: Ruth Rowe tossed in 23 points while Megan Lavaca and Carol Huzinga combined for 22 more to lead Walsh Logging to the win. For Charter, Holly Ferguson canned 10 points while Laura Denis and Laura Willing combined for 17 points.
NEWTOWN AMOCO 60, NEWTOWN COLOR CENTER 16: Justine Kolsaat led all scorers with 32 points, powering Newtown Amoco to the win. Leslie Trudell chipped in with 20 points and Sarah Roman had eight. For the Color Center, Sharon Palmer and Patty Powers tossed in six points apiece. Sharon McCarthy contributed four.
PIZZA PALACE 60, KERLER/BURTON 29: Karen Powell poured in 33 points as Pizza Palace eased past Kerler/Burton. Lisa Checkly scored 12 points while Rita Scanlon had nine, Jackie Peterson four, and Sue Vargo two. For Kerler/Burton, Bonnie Willie scored 12 points while Sherri Baggett had eight. Natalia Kerler, with a three-pointer at the buzzer, chipped in with five points while Amy Mangola had four.
NEWTOWN AMOCO 78, KERLER/BURTON 30: Justine Kolsaat scored 32 points while Denise Brough added 18 to lead Newtown Amoco to the win. Sarah Roman and Katherine Cole helped out with 16 and 12 points, respectively. Natalia Kerler led Kerler/Burton with 16 points while Sherri Baggett chipped in with 10 points. Amy Mangola and Missy Desrochers had two points apiece.
CHARTER COMMUNICATIONS 73, NEWTOWN COLOR CENTER 26: Laura Denis scored 28 points and Laura Willing added 22 to lead Charter Communications to an easy win. Holly Ferguson was impressive at point guard and chipped in with 19 points. Stephanie Trolle was strong under the boards and contributed four points. For the Color Center, Shalor Tavino and Lisa Pollard had eight points apiece while Sharon McCarthy added six. Sharon Palmer and Patty Powers tossed in four apiece.
WALSH LOGGING 49, PIZZA PALACE 34: Ruth Rowe scored 19 points and Tracy Palella added 16 as Walsh Logging held off a fourth-quarter comeback by Pizza Palace. Carol Huizinga scored 10 points and Doris Ratner tossed in four. For Pizza Palace, Karen Powell led the way with 15 points while Beth Gattey tossed in 12 in her first action of the year. Jackie Peterson chipped in with seven points.
