Girls U13
Roadrunners 3, Torrington 1 â KellyAnne Brophy drove home a direct kick with 10 minutes left to break a 1-1 tie and Sarah Attanasio added the clincher a few minutes later. Becca Castegner scored the first goal as Shannon Paproski and Sarah Murtha had assists. Ali Pliszka and Jill Jagoe had great all-around games while Alex Israel and Kelly OâConnor were superb on defense.
Boys U12
Force 6, Norwalk 0 â Justin Brophy had a hat trick and Austin Puleri, Chad Cullens and Evan Garrett each added one as the Force sailed past Norwalk at the Newtown Memorial Day Kick Off Tournament. John Imbimbo had two assists while Evan Garrett had one assist. Peter Ovendorf and Chad Cullens combined in goal for the shutout as Thomas Healy and Tommy Stewart provided great defense. In other tournament action, the Force dropped to Westport (2-0), Monroe (5-0) and Brookfield (1-0).
Girls U11
Flash 3, Brookfield 1 â Kristen Grabowski (penalty kick), Meaghan Harkins and Kelsey Karp all scored to lead the Flash (still undefeated in league play) past Brookfield. Jenna Hindes, Julia Trudell, Morgan Kirol Christina Gould and Bridget Power anchored the D while Caitlin Yakush and Melissa Buccino shared the goaltending.
Boys U10
Danbury 1, Newtown FC 0 â Brandon Marks, Andrew Martinez and Jonah Muniz powered the offense but the Newtown FC fell to Danbury. Matt Baldino and Andrew Martinez supported the defense well. Gabe Keogler and Logan Puleri played well.
Southbury 1, Newtown FC 0 â Doug Miller, Charlie Helgren and Jacob Moore were strong on offense but the Newtown FC fell to Southbury. Matt Rosa anchored the defense while Philip Healy and Sam Boland played well.
Samba Tryouts
The Samba TTP boys premier soccer program will be holding tryouts for 2006/2007 season at Treadwell Park:
U17 (born after August 1, 1989), July 8 and 15, 12 noon to 1:30 pm; U16 (born after August 1, 1990), July 8 and 15, 12 noon to 1:30 pm; U15 (born after August 1, 1991), July 8, 10:30 am to 12 noon, and July 15, 9 to 10:30 am; U14 (born after August 1, 1992), July 8, 9 to 10:30 am, and July 15, 10:30 am to 12 noon; U13 (born after July 31, 1993), June 13, 4:30 to 6 pm); U12 developmental (born after July 31, 1994), June 15, 4:30 to 6 pm.

Girls U14
Danbury 4, Hurricanes 0 â Goalies Emily Ashbolt and Emma Sabin, defenders Samantha Whitley, Christy Iorfino and Chelsea Young and midfielder Courtney Berko and Anna Bernath all had good games.
Boys U14
Beverly Hillbillies 2, Wild Fire 0 â Colin Cooper and Gavin Scallon scored to lead the Hillbillies to the win. Dan OâConnor and Josh Branchflower shared the shutout in net. For the Fire, Peter Kerns and Andrew Haas powered the offense as Matt Hodge and Tommy Cassin played well in the midfield. Chris Arnone anchored the D.
Boys U8
Bulldogs 5, Fierce Jaguars 0 â Clay Gattey scored three times to lead the Bulldogs to the win. Ryan King and Nathan Horvath also scored. Izaiah Volpe played great in goal and Andri Henn notched an assist. For the Jaguars, Felix Summ played well on offense as Jacob Ermis and Jesse Cabral were solid all around.
