Halloween Pumpkin Painting At The Mattatuck Museum
Halloween Pumpkin Painting At The Mattatuck Museum
WATERBURY â Painted pumpkins last weeks longer than carved ones and offer a safe fun alternative for all age levels. The Mattatuck Museum Arts & History Centerâs Discovery Club will host a pumpkin painting session on Sunday, October 25, from 2 to 4 pm.
Participants will begin the workshop by scouting the museumâs âpumpkin patchâ to find just the right pumpkin. Surfaces will then be prepared so that the paint sticks to its surface. Museum staff will show the young artists how to use a variety of techniques â free-form painting, stenciling or paint-scraping â to create just the effect they are looking for.
Pumpkins can be scary, goofy, glitzy or beautiful.
This month Discovery Club is open to all ages so the entire family can join in the fun. Admission is $7 ($4 for museum members), which includes pumpkins and supplies. Participants are welcome to bring hats, fake hair, or other supplies.
Discovery Club is a monthly program designed for kids who like experimenting and discovering new worlds. Each month participants stretch their imaginations by exploring science, technology, and the arts. Monthly attendance is not necessary in the informal âclub.â
