April DUI/Reckless Incident
After learning that police held a warrant for his arrest, George Geanuracos, 55, of Newtown, went to the police station on September 25 and was arrested on charges of driving under the influence, reckless driving, and failure to drive in the proper lane, police said.
The charges stems from a one-vehicle collision on South Main Street on April 21. In that incident, Geanuracos, who was driving a 1968 Ford Mustang, made some circular tire skid marks, known as “donuts,” in the parking lot at Ricky’s Shopping Center at 71 South Main Street, after which he drove out of the parking lot and headed southward on South Main Street.
Geanuracos then did a “tire burnout” on the street, after which the auto began “fishtailing” and went out of control. The Ford drove off the right road shoulder, struck some curbing, smashed into a utility pole, and then hit a fire hydrant, according to police. Geanuracos was injured in the incident.
After arrest processing on September 25, police released Geanuracos from custody on $250 bail for an October 9 arraignment on the charges before a judge in Connecticut Superior Court in Danbury.
