To the Editor:

I am writing this letter in strong support of Joan Plouffe for reelection to the Newtown Police Commission. As a Newtown resident for the past 24 years, I feel that Joan is the right choice for this position in our community. I have personally known Joan for the past five years, and I find her to be highly qualified for the Police Commission. Joan has a keen intellect and is relatable. Joan is an experienced licensed attorney in Connecticut and is professionally trained to analyze complex and difficult issues. She has proven to be a dedicated community servant, she is open-minded, and she will work harder than anyone to make sure she makes good decisions. During her time on the Police Commission, she has proven to be an asset and has gained invaluable first-hand experience as to how the commission functions.

I believe I’m uniquely qualified to make this assessment and endorsement due to my business and professional experience. For the past 29 years, I have been the president and owner of the Colonial Automobile Group in Danbury. I have had the opportunity to work with and observe a large number of individuals and assess their qualifications. This experience allows me to observe and identify a person’s ability to fulfill a job requirement effectively. I have interviewed and evaluated hundreds of job applicants ranging from executive positions to support staff. My professional opinion of Joan Plouffe is that she is the absolute right candidate for the Police Commission and for Newtown.
