“In through the nose,” said Elaina Wiesen of Blue Lotus Yoga in Monroe. “Inhale,” she said.

Seated in the center of a field at Fairfield Hills, surrounded by vendors’ tents at the weekly Newtown Farmer’s Market, yoga instructor Ms Wiesen offered soothing instructions to Jessica Nguyen and Sean Fitzpatrick, a market participant.

Celebrating the season on Autumn’s second day were vendors and guests at the market’s Fall Festival on Tuesday, September 24, at Fairfield Hills.

A pumpkin patch attracted the younger children, along with a bubble machine beckoning them toward a face painting booth. Ella Carpenter kept very still as Diana Mora pointed a vivid snake on her arm. Ella flipped through a binder of pictures until she saw the snake and made up her mind.

Connie Viviani-Auerbach and Stephanie Auerbach, along with Stephanie’s mother Claudia Auerbach, all enticed guests with sweets from Sugar Magnolia Bake Shop.

Between 2 and 6:30 pm, Fall Festival-goers found the regular food trucks and vendors, with the day’s added pumpkin raffle, photo area with an antique truck and potted mums, live music by Raised In Flannel, and face painting.

According to newtownctfarmersmarket.com, this year is the market’s 17th season. The market continues Tuesdays through October at Fairfield Hills.
