A Responsible And Sound Budget

To the Editor:

On April 14, 2004, the Legislative Council passed a town budget which will be presented to the voters for their approval on April 27, 2004. As a member of the Newtown Board of Education, I had a small part in developing and presenting the Newtown School budget, but I encourage everyone to vote for the total Newtown Budget.

An analysis of the Newtown budget shows that it is fiscally responsible in the present financial times. It maintains the quality that Newtown citizens have come to expect from Newtown: An excellent educational system, enhanced property values, and important town services.

Four separate boards have evaluated the Newtown budget. It has been passed on to the voters as a fiscally responsible and sound budget that maintains the quality of life we have come to expect, at a reasonable cost. As a fellow Newtown taxpayer, I am asking all Newtown voters to vote in support of the Newtown Budget on April 27.
