Nighthawk Swim Team Glides To Eighth Straight Win
Newtown High Schoolâs girlsâ swimming and diving team earned its eighth straight win in a 102-81 triumph over visiting Lauralton Hall on October 26. The Nighthawks improved to 8-2 heading into the regular season finale Wednesday at Masuk in Monroe (after The Bee sports section went to press).
The Nighthawks will participate in the South-West Conference Championships with the diving portion scheduled for November 4 at Pomperaug High in Southbury at 6 pm and the swimming portion slated for November 7 at Masuk at 3:30 pm.
Newtownâs first- and second-place results from the Lauralton Hall meet are as follows:
200-yard freestyle relay: First, Colleen Carroll, Evelyn Fahey, Maggie Hoolehan and Kelsey McEvoy, 1:51.61. Second, Natalie Dunn, Caroline Lawrence, Bianca Solano and Zoe Eggleston, 1:54.19.
100 backstroke: Second, Maggie Atkinson, 1:08.55
100 breaststroke: First, Megan Baylis, 1:17.40.
