To the Editor:

Newtown is lucky to have the opportunity to reelect Rebekah Harriman-States to the Board of Education.

Rebekah has been deeply immersed in the Newtown community for 17 years. She helped found the My Sandy Hook Family Fund and the EverWonder Children’s Museum, chaired the leadership & community engagement program of the Bridgeport Regional Business Council, served as PTA president for Middle Gate Elementary School, and volunteers with the Newtown youth wrestling and lacrosse organizations. She has been widely recognized for her leadership in the community, and knows first hand the challenges facing small business owners as well as those of working families.

Rebekah is smart, organized, dynamic, and tremendously energetic. She is a great communicator who knows how to listen and how to help people work together, even if they have different points of view. She loves Newtown and knows that community matters.

Rebekah was elected to the Board of Education four years ago and has been the vice-chair for two years. She loves serving on the Board of Education and working to maintain the quality of Newtown schools, which is vital to our quality of life and to our property values. She hopes to continue working to ensure an even more inclusive, rigorous, and safe educational environment for all children.

Let’s make sure Rebekah can continue to serve our community. Please join me in voting for Rebekah Harriman-Stites for Newtown’s Board of Education.
