Choral Society Is Offering Two
Scholarships To High School Seniors
GREENWICH â The Greenwich Choral Society has announced the competition for the seventeenth annual Nathalie Ruthford Scholarship Award. The $1,000 award was established in 1984 in honor of the memory of Mrs Rutherford, a longtime chorister and resident of Cos Cob.
Also available for the first time is a second scholarship, valued at $1,000.
The scholarship competition is open to any senior attending a secondary school in Westchester or Fairfield County, graduating in June 2000, who is considering further collegiate study in vocal or choral music.
Candidates must complete an application form plus submit a cassette tape recording of 10 to 15 minutes of solo vocal music. All applications must be received by Friday, April 10, 2000.
Finalists will be selected from these applicants to perform for a panel of judges on Sunday, April 30. Winners will receive their scholarships, plus perform selections from their repertoire at the Choral Societyâs Annual Meeting, to be held the evening of Tuesday, May 9.
