Getting Out The Vote
Getting Out The Vote
To the Editor:
I would like to thank the countless number of Newtown citizens who worked tirelessly to âget out the voteâ on Tuesday. Last year, 3,579 voters cast their vote during the first referendum and this year, 6,182 voters made it to the polls to be counted. The improved voter turnout was due to the organized efforts of many town leaders, PTAs, numerous organizations, and particularly grassroots efforts of concerned citizens reaching out to their friends, acquaintances, and neighbors.
I am relieved that Newtown will now be able to move forward to address the high school overcrowding and we can begin to focus our energy on other critical issues facing Newtown. I am energized by the strong voter turnout, and I am hopeful that the community will continue to pay close attention to the decisions being made by the town leaders. These important decisions will shape the future landscape of Newtown and your continued participation will be critical.Â
Sincerely,
Po Murray
