Susan Fund Scholarship For Cancer Survivors

The Susan Fund, a Fairfield County-based scholarship program for cancer survivors who wish to pursue higher education has begun its 2005 application process.

To be eligible, students must be Fairfield County residents who have been diagnosed with cancer sometime in their lives and are planning to attend an accredited college or training program. Awards are based on academic achievement, financial need, and community involvement.

The Susan Fund has been awarding scholarships to local students for more than 20 years. The fund was established in memory of Susan Davis Lloyd, a Westport teen whose dream was to attend college despite her cancer diagnosis and treatments.

The deadline for applications is April 1.
