To the Editor:
I am writing this letter to endorse the reelection of Debbie Aurelia as town clerk.
I have been a resident of Newtown since 1972 and a professional real estate title examiner for nearly 38 years. During those 38 years, in the course of my duties I have been to almost all of the 169 municipalities in the State of Connecticut and have observed the town clerkâs content and procedures. For the most part, the majority of them adhere to the statutes, with a few exceptions.
When Debbie became an assistant town clerk in 2005, she assumed her role with both feet running. She enrolled in the certification program to become a certified Connecticut municipal clerk (a minimum of three years) and successfully completed the courses and received the coveted honor as a CCMC and is currently enrolled in the clerks continuing education program.
Furthermore, she is a computer guru and works closely with Mr Sharlow, Newtownâs IT person, and is a volunteer with other town functions.Â
There are more requirements to the town clerkâs position than deeds, indexing, vital statistics, and elections. In fact, the Connecticut general statutes require her to comply with more than 500 duties.
Debbie Aurelia and her knowledgeable and outstanding staff, Monica, Ann and Renee, continue to do so on a daily basis. It is always a pleasure to be greeted with a warm smile and work with such a great team effort.
I encourage ever voter to put partisan politics behind and vote for the most qualified person and that is Debbie Aurelia.
Respectfully submitted,
Jay F. Patrick
